Reliable Backup Power: Kohler Generator Installation
Reliable Backup Power: Kohler Generator Installation
Helping Homeowners Stay Prepared for Unexpected Power Outages
Power outages can happen at any time, leaving homeowners without essential electricity for heating, cooling, lighting, and everyday appliances. Having a reliable backup power system in place can provide peace of mind and help keep your home running when the unexpected happens.
Recently, the Denommee Plumbing, HVAC & Electrical team completed the installation of a new 14kW Kohler generator at a home originally built in 1928. This 1,961-square-foot home, featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms, received electrical and gas piping upgrades to support its new backup power system.
A Complete Generator Installation
Installing a standby generator involves more than simply placing the equipment outside. Proper electrical connections, gas piping, and system integration are essential to ensuring reliable operation.
For this project, our team handled several key components of the installation, including:
-
14kW Kohler Generator: Installation of a new standby generator and mounting pad to provide a stable foundation for the equipment.
-
Automatic Transfer Switch: Installation of an automatic transfer switch designed to detect power outages and transition the home to generator power without requiring manual intervention.
-
Underground Utilities: Trenching to accommodate underground electrical and gas lines connecting the generator to the home's existing systems.
-
Electrical Panel Upgrades: Installation of a new 30-circuit sub-panel and electrical modifications allowing the generator to supply power to both panels.
-
Gas Piping Installation: Installation of approximately 30 feet of 1-inch gas piping, successfully pressure-tested at 3 PSI and prepared for inspection.
Bringing Plumbing and Electrical Expertise Together
One of the most important aspects of a generator installation is ensuring that the electrical and gas systems work together safely and efficiently.
At Denommee, our licensed plumbing and electrical professionals coordinate throughout the installation process to help ensure every component is properly installed and meets applicable code requirements.
From underground gas piping and electrical panel upgrades to generator placement and system connections, our team provides a coordinated approach that makes the installation process easier for homeowners.
Why Invest in a Standby Generator?
A professionally installed standby generator offers several benefits, especially for homeowners looking to protect their homes during unexpected power outages.
Reliable Backup Power: A standby generator can automatically provide electricity to designated circuits when utility power is interrupted.
Convenience: Unlike portable generators, permanently installed standby systems are designed to operate automatically without manual setup during an outage.
Protection for Essential Home Systems: Depending on the generator's capacity and electrical configuration, backup power can help maintain important systems such as heating equipment, refrigerators, lighting, and other essential appliances.
Peace of Mind: Knowing your home has a backup power solution in place can help reduce the stress and inconvenience of unexpected outages.
